The book and the movie

I feel that there were some similarities like that they both lived in Africa. But one really important one that I noticed is that when the Coke bottle landed in the bush tribe, the tribe became more ferocious and angry, while before they were happy. I think this shows how the white man arriving in Africa in the book can affect the tribe in the movie in the same way, but through different forms. Does anyone else see this similarity?

I believe the Coke bottle was similar to the missionaries entering Umoufia. Although the bottle did not cause the same effect as the one the missionaries had, it still brought unrest to the tribal people. In Things Fall Apart, some of the tribal people adapted to the white men's customs and everyday tools while in The Gods Must be Crazy, the tribal men and women began attacking one another just to try to obtain the "magical bottle." The only similarity that can be found in each piece is the presence of Western influence.

I agree with Anna becouse, the Coke bottle in the movie did really represent how the white man changes the emotions within the tribes in the movie. And the book Okonkwo killed the Messenger ruthlessly becouse he dispised the way the white man was trying to change Africa.

I agree the coke bottle caused a lot of problems like when the white men came into Africa. Before the white man came into Africa the villages were calm and everything was going well, but as soon as the white men arrived they began to find faults with Okonkwo and this caused problems because nobody every questioned Okonkwos authority. Like the white men the coke bottle was a caused problems because everybody wanted it like unlike before were nobody used it. Both the ehite men and the coke bottle was something that was not originally in Africa but came to Africa and disrupted Africa’s peace.

I agree with the past comments because the coke bottle changed the way the people of the tribes interacted with each other and it brought out new emotions towards each other. The missionaries made people feel different about the tribe stehy were in. They were following a new religion and were starting to go against each other. Each new thing that were brought by people they have never seen before brought conflict among them and caused them to change their way of life.

I also agree with this. I think that the coke bottle definitely stirred the feelings of the tribes people and brought them unrest. In the book, Things Fall Apart, the missionaries also stir the feelings of the people. For example, some people of Umuofia actually get involved into the religion the white man brought but others think they are foolish and do not believe in their one god. Also both the movie and the book's setting is in Africa, and unrest comes because of new things that are presented.
